Hard lockdown in several European countries

Hard lockdown affects transportation in Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands

15. December

Dear customer and business partner,

Please notice that Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands will now re-enter a 'hard lockdown', due to increasing cases of Covid-19 incidents. The following measures will therefore apply from this week:

  • Quarantine rules are introduced for all travelers. However, transport workers and drivers are exempted.
  • People are urged to work from home if possible.
  • People should not leave their homes except for going to work, buying essentials, seeking healthcare, etc.
  • Shops, stores, personal services, restaurants, bars, and hotels must close. However, grocery stores, pharmacies, banks, post offices, gas stations, etc. can remain open on a daily basis for a limited period of time.
  • Schools and universities will switch to “distance learning.”

How does this influence transportation?

Until now, it is still possible to enter all European countries with supplies. When transporting goods to or from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, it is your responsibility to check whether your trading partner in the countries concerned is open and manned for pick-up and/or delivery. If LEMAN is not able to load/unload due to these circumstances, any cost will be at the expense of the transport buyer.

Until further notice, the restrictions apply until the beginning of 2021, depending on the destination.

Do you have any questions?

Please contact your local LEMAN specialist if you want to know more about your options or if you have questions regarding the latest restrictions.
